Two elements of business elude the less successful and the
enormously successful seem to find them in abudance.
We are going to discuess one, here, briefly, and then;
well we shall see what develops.

Get Ready There Is No Fluff Here

Napolean Hill, famous author, wrote a book which was

largely a study that he compiled of the people who had

amassed wealth and gained power within their realms.*

Hill famously titled his work, “Think and Grow Rich,”

it is only outsold, we’re told by some statisticians,

by the Bible; as an all time best seller; so powerful

is Hill’s study that people in every generation since

it’s inception have rediscovered it and sent it’s sales

reeling yet again. What would you suppose is the key

element which makes Hill’s work so compelling?

Wrapped within the enigma of it’s powerful ability

to transform is the result oriented mass popularity

which is in fact, the key element which must be

present in order for a business to succeed. The

business must be, massively popular. Now to

accept that as axiomatic consider that sheer

numbers are gained by the successful in two

ways, positive and, negative. Both ways benefit

the successful- and that, finally, becomes the

element which yields them absolute success -

they cannot lose, when you can’t lose, you …win!

It Is About Massive Popularity

Let’s think of that in this way, in the world of

public relations, the story that stirs the imagination

of the population, brings with it the potential to

make sales. Whether that story is positive, as

when a superstar baseball player helped a child

with cancer achieve their dream; or negative, as

when that same baseball superstar was accused

of not being the real deal when it came to, of

all things, training! Both stories about the same

person, one positive, one negative, both increased

sales of that stars cards and game pieces! Can

it be true? Take the case of gasoline sales- if

the story is positive, that there is plenty of gas,

people have flocked to the pumps, because one

can never tell when it wouldn’t be that way, or

negative, gas amounts decreasing, folks go to

the pumps in order to have some just in case.

Same gasoline, story runs negative or positive

either way, gas company wins. What makes the

final difference? The sheer amount – massive

amount of popularity.

OK I Get It, Now What?

One factor that cannot be taken away from this

truth (axiom) is that massive popularity comes

as a result of doing one thing, meeting peoples

needs; it is so simple, and yet, to this day, it is

the defining difference between the success and

the failing business. One meets the peoples needs

the other doesn’t. It doesn’t matter if the need,

by the way, is real, let’s face it, much of what is

purchased in the United States doesn’t have to

do with need, but rather, has to do with what

used to be called higher order needs (Maslow)

such as aesthetic needs, pride based behavior,

the needs that aren’t health and survival based.

In this brief we examined one point which is

the central or axiomatic fact of Napolean Hill’s

great work being so successful; that one being

massive popularity, which is based upon the

needs of people being met. When this really

gets into your process, suddenly many of the

things which were blocking you will fall away,

and when that happens you will find yourself

in a place called, success, and it will be on the

heels of massive popularity.
