When I was a teenager my family went to the Grand Canyon, truly it was an amazing sight, I’ve never forgotten it. If you’ve been there you know exactly what that feels like, if you haven’t been there, it’s worth the trip, and you’ll never forget the beauty of the sunsets on the rocks, or the sunrise colors; it is beyond description. But that was when I was a

teenager, back in those times it seemed to me to be one thing, today, when someone shows me a picture of the Grand Canyon my mind does many different things. For openers, it is now easy for me to see that what we consider to be a long time, is no time at all; when as a teenager someone asked me what I thought was going to be my life work, I really had no idea but said something like “well the law seems like a good thing to get into.” Any answer would do, because the truth, well, it sounded lame? Just as now when a year goes bye, it seems like it was only a month, and now my life work is, well; work- and the Grand Canyon; it took way beyond forever to get done, because, it’s still getting done…right there in front of our eyes. Ever had a business idea that didn’t seem like it was the right time? Ever have a business that seemed like it was going too slow?

“Is this…(fill in your name) – I’m calling because your daughter has been in an accident.” Words we fear hearing, we don’t dwell on it, that would be called paranoia, but we don’t like hearing those words, and we dread the thought.  Two weeks ago, some families heard those words, and they were being notified that the man of the family was in a disastrous accident in the Gulf of Mexico- in the worst of all possible end results, eleven of these brave men, lost their lives.
The question now is- is this merely blow-back from the sealant, or is there something else going on here?

When the United States of America begins to dig into it’s so called energy crisis- built around petroleum consumption; three questions come up:  1)  Can we curb our consumption or change the way we consume the petroleum.  2)  Are we so tied into the petroleum use that we cannot change.  3)  If we begin to drill for our own oil resources, designed to come into American tanks for storage, will that lessen our dependence in America on what is called foreign oil?

These three questions eventually hit the cost factor – and the companies which drill for oil, have to operate as any other company for a profit.  So the oil drilling companies are used to a certain standard of operation, and, the consuming and storing companies are also used to a certain standard, and the pricing of petroleum is consigned via certain economic mechanisms having very little to do with consumption, and much more to do with speculative value which homegrown American storage would impact upon.

At the end of the day, the question will come up, was this a disaster that occurred because of error, flaw in design, or- is this something else?  We aren’t talking about a ship which moves with currents and charts and can get off course, or be blown or maneuvered off course through many different factors, rather this is a set platform with set operating procedures.  Were those procedures altered- and if so, was that alteration part of standard or non-standard behavior?  At the end of the day, is this disaster meant to make America once more hunker down about drilling for her own oil?

Don’t Miss The Contest At The Bottom – Sign Up – $27.95 Prize!!!

Now Is The Time On This One
When Nicholas Black (writer name) first wowed me on Twitter oh so many moons ago, I thought ” dad gum, this guy is good, but his characters talk so fast? Do people really talk that fast?” Answer: Yes they do, and in New York, even more so! His Twitter address is http://twitter.com/NicholasBlack60, and he’s the real deal, a virtuoso writer and cool dude; but when he first wowed me, what wowed me was his common sense suggestions about writing. How’d I get those? I asked him for his help. First real practical tip - don’t be afraid to ask someone you see being successful at something you want to be successful at, if they would spare you a few minutes to share some ideas about how they got there. Hint: This usually works real well over coffee, or, something else that they like? If it’s virtual, get their real address and send them some chocolates, find out ahead of time what their favorite candy is, if it’s chocolate, send them some, you would be surprised how much good will a little kind gesture like that can buy you?
For Sure Don’t Ignore This Second One It’s Real Too!
Now that you have obtained some success, if you can remember someone who helped you along the way, let them know it. This sounds corny, but it is true- thanking those who have helped you is more important than anything else you are going to do. Check that marketing guys and gals, thanking people who help you get there is more important than anything else, how much else, anything else- HOW IMPORTANT- this is the single most important thing that you will do. If they help, thank them- it will show you something that is a law and here is that law – you can’t out give the giver. One more time – YOU CAN’T OUT GIVE THE GIVER. Here is the truth in practical terms – Dr. Joe Vitale is a huge success, he is world famous, he is now a world shaker- whenever I get the chance to tell him how much he has done for me, trust me, I take it. Whenever I get twenty five or thirty dollars ahead – it’s a great investment to send him a thank you book from Amazon.com he loves them- now, seriously, does Joe need my book? Get serious, he’s got gazillions of bucks, gorgeous lifestyle and a mind that is absolutely one of the finest in the world, and in the history of mankind – trust me on this, Dr. Joe doesn’t need my compliments or gifts – but that’s not what it’s about- no matter what – I will never be able to out give him, know why- sure you get it, because his work is the reason I got to here, and no matter how many “here’s” I get to, guess what, he’ll be several mountain peaks away, climbing and climbing and climbing- I can’t out give the giver, but – he needs to know he counts. Believe me, people who become extremely successful and in fact become, very lonely, and often feel isolated, they need to hear from folks who care about them.
The Kicker (Three) Threes Count, Bear Down On This One
Practical use of lists is one thing, they are good for organization, aren’t they(?) but here is a whole ‘nother take on lists. Let one list count for another – make a list that is for those who purchase X also be a list for those who hear about Z. I realize how simple that sounds, but you would be amazed at the number of marketing professionals who literally cut off their nose to spite their face when it comes to narrow focus. We live in a world which constantly harps on focus, and what I’m putting forth here is, don’t narrow the focus, widen it – don’t get myopic and anemic, get bloated and enriched blood! Make your list link up- NOW- as to the how…well shucks, what kind of marketing guy would I be if I just dropped this on you and then didn’t share that with you…my sense is I’d be getting in the state range, for example of a true master like Chris Voss- let me tell you this, you won’t find any better than this man,Chris is a true genius of the networking age, and info-social networking guru, folks if you like making money in any venue (note that, any venue) take it from the good ol’ dr. of business…drd4u…Chris Voss is the best you’ll ever run into!

The bottle was falling – as fast as I could,
with every bit of strength I could muster,
I had to stop it. Grabbed for it, needed to
grip it- sure didn’t want Ketchup all over
the floor! Been there? Milk’s pretty rough
too- have you heard the old cliche’ about
spilled milk? Well, why not cry over it?

The fear that is in that moment can’t last
because either, the bottle will be gripped
by your hand, or the floor? Hmm…before
you have time to contemplate it, you’re
into the next, NEXT- a very interesting
place to be. I remember the Colonel I call
him; he had a car had the license plate
on it said, NEXT; it was a half Cadillac
and half Rolls Royce; guy was so wealthy
he had a Rolls chopped in half and somehow
a Cadillac front end was put on that
pup, he said he liked the Caddilac
transmission, but the ride of Rolls was
one of kind? That was one bizzare looking
car- but- that license plate, wow- that
was what stuck in my head, because he
explained it as a theory to life- NEXT!

He said, some will, some won’t, so what?
NEXT. He said if some wanted to follow,
great, next, if some didn’t, great, next,
if somebody wanted to do something, great,
next…he was always onto; next.

Without realizing it, he had put me onto a
course of HOPE- you see, hope is…NEXT!
I believe in next- a lot of people around me
don’t believe in next- they see what they
see as where they are, and they base what they
believe they are going into upon that, so
strongly, that they aren’t ready for NEXT-
even though it just might happen to them?
What about the person who goes to work
every day believing they are going to
experience the same ol’ mess? They really
believe that- they really do- so they
don’t say, “I love you,” to people they
love, they really do, they just don’t say
it, because they don’t believe anything is
going to be different, they believe it is
all going to remain the same…but ever since
that night when the Colonel explained that
license plate to me, life has been a steady
series of, NEXT- so I always try to let folks
know I love them; as a way of getting ready
for NEXT! You see, we are never ready for
disaster- not really- just as we are never
really ready for, success, not really. We
would like to think we are, but the truth
is, we aren’t- because we never really
know, and we can’t really, what is- NEXT!

So now the question becomes, what will you do with what you know?

Michael Korda wrote about power, in his writings he talked about how powerful the term “NO” is. While reading that, so many years ago, to this day my memory feels the outright awe of how much that statement made me contemplate the power of “YES” which was Korda’s ultimate goal in teaching.

Perhaps you’ve not thought of yourself as a communicating dynamo? Maybe you have overlooked the obvious, and it’s obvious power? In your lifetime, if you get in on the electronic revolution; you will communicate to more people than anyone ever believed possible. In your lifetime, if you get in on it, you will become a T.V. type personality, from the relative location of your choosing…check this one out:

It is way more than angst- it is way more than we actually feel comfortable dealing with, for the simple truth is; we have a freedom here to express our ideas, and if those ideas prove to be useful, fun, fulfilling, or even, worth peoples while; then they will go out into the ether and grow contacts by the millions – to see a proof of this check out the “Obama girls” where they came from and what happened to them as a result of their idea! NOW…stick with me, invite yer friends, join us on MySpace and FaceBook and I guarantee, something you will rarely hear me do…but I guarantee you, you’ll get an enormous bang(!) for your buck!
Luv to ya..drd4u.com
