It was a quiet night, there weren’t any clouds out, the stars were overwhelming in their number and brightness, and it was still. No wind, very little noise, 1 A.M. in a small rural southern community. There in the stillness of that moment is when God, the supreme creative maker of all, chose to break into the life before Him, and totally astonish my humanity. The first impression He gave me had to do with finite resources, and infinite need. We aren’t handling those real well, which is where God kicked it off at, and then He did this amazing thing, He let me know that He knows that this is what we face and that I should begin to see the problem from another perspective. Now to my mind, at the time, that perspective seemed so, beyond, anything that would make sense, and yet, suddenly and with overwhelming power, God introduced me to just a smidgen of the sorrow that he handles, as the tears welled up inside me, the reality of people perishing for lack of needs being met, hit home with a full force. The second thing God showed me in that instant, is that He communicates with clarity to the human heart that is ready to understand the enormous amount of trust He has in us. Consider this from the Bible:

One of the strangest experiences we get to participate in, is when somebody begins to think outside the box. Two things usually happen right away, first, their friends want to put them back inside the box. Now before you say how bad that is, stop and consider how hard it is on friends when someone they love goes nuts? That’s right I said nuts, because you realize that as you get farther and farther outside the box, you will appear to be losing touch with reality, which is…wait for it, the box. The second thing that happens is the friends, who are now saddened by the persons loss of sense, will begin to try and manipulate them back inside the box. So when an emotional plea to reason doesn’t help, switch to manipulation. Does any of this sound familiar to you? Now remember, if you are the one thinking outside the box, you have caused all this difficulty for your friends, haven’t you? Now as you are mulling this over in your mind, I want you to read the following statement and understand what it means: “Gen 12:4 So Abram departed, as the LORD had spoken unto him; and Lot went with him: and Abram [was] seventy and five years old when he departed out of Haran.” Abram was the first, perhaps, to get outside the box, really outside the box, and begin to see, that the one who was talking with him, wasn’t him. He wasn’t delusional, the creator God, the one who makes everything that is made; He was telling Abram to do a deed. Abram was listening, nobody else would. Abram appeard to be crazy, but notice also what happens, not everybody turns against Abram- and in fact, if you believe that his neighbors living in Haran said, “Abram, good decision, yeah, your right, we always hear that voice as well, sure, sure, it’s in our heads too. Yes, yes, we agree with you, Go, good concept, take off, leave everything, it’ll work,” maybe your getting outside the box, yourself? Think that’s what they said? So the next time your friends begin to start in on you about how you are going about doing what you are doing, if it’s outside the box, perhaps it won’t mean as much to you, but if it hasn’t been outside the box, have you been listening? Because my real question here is, why would God want the same old box all the time, that’s hardly creative is it, and He is, after all, isn’t He, creator God? Limbs which are prosthetic are intelligent and capable of interacting with the user. It is an age unlike anything that has existed ever, and you are here to see it. Now tell me once again that you don’t think there is anything to creator God? How can people see the world that is coming and in fact is here as we speak, and not be cognizant of the fact that it isn’t just a matter of any cosmic chance whatsoever. God is in this world making things happen. By faith I look as did the believers of old that are spoken of in Hebrews in the New Testament: Hebrews 11:10 For he looked for a city which hath foundations, whose builder and maker is God.
