DAYS UNTIL (Holidays, End of Time, you name it)

Thinking about how we measure time, when something is timely and when it is not.  Friends it seems to me are timely, anytime, or, at least they should be?  Sometimes it perplexes me that we live in a culture where we do cherish friendships, and yet, we aren’t particularly friendly in our conduct?  Now if we believe that something is at stake behind our conduct, we can manage to get right for a short while; but then, it’s right back to what Dr. Covey defines as habitual behavior.  It is odd because in the United States we’ve had more than we need on so many occasions; and just as the scientist in “the 11th hour” reminded us about burning up fossil fuels; we inherited much of what is so good about our nation today!  So isn’t it odd that we seem bent on not handing that over to the next generation?

It would make sense for the current leaders of the world to think in short term resolutions if we had that luxury; but everything that I read, and everything that I hear, tells me we are out of luxury time and actually living on borrowed time?  Maybe you’ve heard something similar?

Jesse Ventura has a new show out that is called “Conspiracy Theory,” fascinating how he manages to continue to reinvent himself, and he does it with such cool and suave means- what could be cooler than speculation about the end of things?  Conspiracy indeed- here is an interesting tidbit for all you database Excel types out there, since we know that projections if they are normed across any span of time beyond a two window can accurately anticipate to within 3 to 5%, don’t you think it’s a bit presumptive of oil executives to pretend to the public at large that they didn’t know they were creating a dad gum disaster?

If you have seen the movie “2012,” then you understand why that particular solution just doesn’t seem realistic, but why it’s such good fiction?  If you are anything like me, you were catching your breath at points in that movie; so going to Wal-Mart, spying the Whitley Strieber book by the same title, my thinking was, “wow a bargain.”  Of course, Whitley’s book is excellent but it is not the movie’s script at all.

So are we safe or not?  As you probably have heard the Mayan calendar expires in 2012, hence all the speculation that we are in for it, and, that it will be the end.  If you want to put credence into such matters, my sense is that you would like to feel like it makes some sort of sense; here is the problem with such; the universe just isn’t a predictable place, even though scientists such as Stephen Hawking would try to explain it, they know, as you now will, that due to something called the Heisenberg principle, it’s just this side of impossible to predict what will take place in any future in this universe.  Sorry we aren’t able to put you at ease on this, its not hard to imagine that this is tough news to take, because we’re telling you if your worried, that might just be a part of the entire process?  On the other hand if you stop worrying, it might be like the Butterfly that doesn’t flap it’s wings in Central Park in New York?  Not sure you will want to, but if you think it’s not too risky, perhaps you’d like to comment on this matter?
