Truth will out…

David Augsburger has a book called “Caring Enough to Confront,” he writes about how hard it can be for people to be honest with each other, even when they are in love. You’d think it would be exactly the opposite that people who are in love would be honest with each other, easily; but often, that isn’t the case. Sometimes it has to do with being vulnerable, that a person doesn’t like to feel as if they are weakened as a person by being vulnerable to someone about how they actually are? If that is the way that relationships can go, they aren’t as grand as what they have the potential to be, which is Augsburger’s point. The interesting thing about the book is that it generates thoughts, and “thoughts become things” as James Allen might say. So maybe what we have at times is that when we love somebody we are thinking differently? Maybe we are getting to where such a book isn’t needed? Maybe that’s what is so wonderful about you, the book isn’t needed, all that is needed is you.
